Trans-Plan is a professional services company providing engineering expertise to solve transportation-based problems. We consult with both public and private sector clients to help make our transportation networks faster and more efficient. To this end our technology arm is currently developing a new way to collect data for engineering services called VIEWS. VIEWS uses a combination of UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) video capture and computer vision analytics to automatically capture and count traffic movement patterns in our cities.
Current data collection process is expensive, slow and labour intensive. This strains budgets and requires gaps in analysis to be closed with assumption and estimation rather than actual data. Using autonomous video capture and automatic data aggregation, VIEWS provides comprehensive data sets that remove the need to pick and choose. You get a full picture of the transportation network without the need to devote your entire budget to data collection.
Empowering our planners and engineers with better data will allow them to make informed decisions to combat traffic and congestion as our cities develop and grow.
