Destiny Copper has spent a decade developing the world’s first cleantech copper extraction process that uses almost zero energy to produce high-purity copper and high-value copper powder (+99.9% Cu). This patented, hydrometallurgical process produces copper from pregnant liquor solutions (PLS), industrial wastes streams and even mine tailings ponds! The remaining solution is cleaned back to grey water for reuse in the plant which is important as copper deposits are often located in dry climates such as Australia, Arizona, and Chile. Destiny’s cleantech is dramatically greener when compared to the incumbent technologies SXEW and Smelting: Destiny is significantly cleaner on GHG emissions, energy usage and water re-usage. Recently Destiny was awarded a substantial grant from the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) to study the use their copper powder in space.
