H.L. Blachford Ltd was founded in Montreal in 1921 by Henry Lloyd Blachford and started making stearates in 1926. Operations have grown to include manufacturing sites in the USA, Canada and the UK. Blachford manufactures mainly fatty acid-based products (stearates and esters) for a variety of industries including rubber, tire, powdered metal, plastics, PVC, food, wire drawing and metal working. The main applications are as lubricants, process aids and gellants.
