Profile

Miller Technology designs, develops and manufactures light duty vehicles (LDVs) for mining applications. All functions, from design to manufacture, are performed in-house and the ICMM (International Council on Mining and Metals) recognizes the company as a vehicle OEM (original equipment manufacturer).

Historically these vehicles have been diesel powered and, following the company’s green agenda to promote environmental responsibility, battery electric vehicles are now the key focus, with the world’s flagship BEV, the Miller Technology Relay, having been designed and manufactured in-house.

Modifications are also performed to existing platforms, primarily Toyota Land Cruisers, to upgrade them to be sufficiently robust for mining environments and to perform specialist functions. Offering optimal support to the market worldwide, Miller Technology is a factory franchised Toyota Underground Dealer.

All Miller Technology’s vehicles are sold globally and supported with OEM spare parts and technical assistance.

Products and Services

Miller Technology’s core products are the Ion Drive Relay BEV, Ion Drive Grader BEV and Land Cruiser BEV.

Ion Drive is the company’s proprietary electric drivetrain and is utilised in the Relay and Grader vehicles. The only difference between the two vehicles’ drivetrains is the Grader has two more batteries than the Relay. This drivetrain can be utilised to power other companies’ vehicles and a design consultancy is offered to provide other companies the benefits of using the Ion Drive electric drivetrain in their fleets.

Toyota Land Cruisers are modified to strengthen them for an extended life in the mining environment. Mine specific modifications are also provided to create enhanced Land Cruiser personnel carriers, ANFO loaders, crane trucks, scissor lifts, etc. Miller Technology is a factory franchised Toyota Underground Dealer.

Target customers are the mining sector and adjacent sectors such as: oil & gas, civil engineering, airports, agribusiness, etc.
